Aber ja, mich gibt’s immer noch und es ist wohl an der Zeit, hier mal wieder was zu schreiben. Ab jetzt wahrscheinlich hauptsächlich auf gebrochenem Deutsch (ich bin wirklich aus der Übung). Vielleicht auch ab und zu ein bisschen regelmäßiger. (Haha, wer’s glaubt!)

Naja, ich habe im Allgemeinen überlegt, ob es nicht ein bisschen an der Zeit für einem relaunch/ein paar Änderungen wäre, was im Klartext soviel heisst wie: ein bisschen weniger persönlich (oder wollt ihr wirklich wissen, was ich heute gegessen habe), stattdessen mehr für die breite Bevölkerung intressante Themen, Musik, Tontechnik, Feminismus, musikalischer Feminismus, Veganerkacke (okay, das fällt wohl unter die Kategorie: was ich heute geschissen habe) und: viel mehr Kraftausdrücke. So wie “Veganerkacke” und “geschissen”. Kuk, Fitta, Bajs.

Klingt das okay?

Gut, dann fang ich gleich (=demnächst) mal an.

a small overview about the artist gender distribution in (swedish) festivals. It’s pretty sad, though not at all surprising to look at it, especially since I wouldn’t really count Queertopia as a regular festival like the others, because their focus is more on workshops than music.

Also, sadly the other 3 festivals that have 20% or more female arstist are more Pop/Alternative/World Music/Whatever than any kind of music I would like, which still makes me angry.

Oh, also, they didn’t show the other festivals I went to this year, Sonisphere, (and Kajrocken in Katrineholm, though I know they tried) which opened the stage for exactly 0 (in letters: zero) female artists.

Sorry, but I have to say it again: Go fuck yourself, Sweden.

So, I won’t apologize for not posting in a long time, I find those kind of posts almost as interesting as those who explain that there won’t be any regular posts in a while. Not that much.

Instead, here’s what I’ve done in the meantime (parts of it). There has happened a lot, although I haven’t done a lot actually.

I am officially a college drop-out, sort of. Well, in january I decided that I would give up on electrical engineering and dropped out pretty spontaniously. Even more spontaniously I dropped in an audio engineering class in Örebro, which was only half time and for half a year, so I’m done with that again already as well. It was fun and I actually got a good grade in it, but it wasn’t one of those things that get you a job really. I’m looking for one of those now. I’m still not a 100% sure what to do and where to go.

I could do a course in “music and audio design” or whatever it is called now, at some kind of community college in a small town like 30 miles from here. My former teacher recommended it to me, but I’m no a 100% sure, the disadvantages of that would probably be that is is not exactly renowned and I’m not sure if it really is the shortest way into the business (duh). Oh, also the college is kind of run by the Swedish church. On the other hand, it’s close. That would be one of the choices I have for specialising more on the creative and producing aspect than technical, which would also be the case for my other Swedish choice:

I might apply for the SAE Institute in Stockholm, the have an interesting audio production class there and it’s only two nights a week, so I wouldn’t have to move. That would still be an expensive option as it is a private school and I would be commuting, on the other hand you get a really good education and a lot of business contacts. I’m trying to get a hold of them on the phone right now, so I can book an appointment.

The other two (evenly or more expensive) choices would be studying a more technical program at the SAE in the UK (it’s abroad, it’s renowned and I could acquire a fancy accent), or MI in Los Angeles (contacts, Hollywood, good weather!).

Right now I’m favoring Stockholm, but my opinion changes every few days. We will see.

Other than that, I have finally almost finished renovating my kitchen, it’s only been a year or so, the dog and the horsey are doing good, horsey is kind of at summer camp right now, well he’s staying at my trainers place, which is an awesomly nice place to be for a little horse.

Talking about summer camp, I wen’t to Portland, Oregon for about six weeks, to work at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Camp for Girls, which is awesome, and I will tell you more about that soon. Promise.

I organised a feminsit culture festival in march, went to Rome with my boyfriend in may and I recently picked up the bass again, actually, I’m looking for band members right now (maybe even more about that soon).

Generally, I’m working on (read: thinking about) a lot of projects right now, mostly music and feminism related, but it’s nothing concrete.

Wenn ich Menschen aus Deutschland erzähle wo ich wohne, zumindest in Gesprächen in denen es im Entfernten um Feminismus geht, finden die das meistens ganz toll, den Schweden ist ja so fortschrittlich und hastenichgesehn. Falls man Fortschritt in der Emanzipation alleine an der Verfuegbarkeit von Kindergartenplätzen und Gehaltsunterschieden misst stimmt das sicherlich auch, denn in Schweden verdienen die Frauen ein bisschen weniger weniger als ihre männlichen Kollegen, verglichen mit Deutschland und sie können ihr Kind dann auch während sie Vollzeit arbeiten in die Tagesstätte bringen und nachher wieder abholen. Wer sich deswegen anmasst, Schweden als ein gleichberechtigtes Land zu bezeichnen -und das tuen auch sehr viele Schweden-, dem empfehle ich dringends Maria Svelands “Bitterfotze” zu lesen. Egal, eigentlich sollte das sowieso jeder lesen und Maria Sveland sollte mich heiraten, aber das ist eine andere Geschichte.

Anyway, ich arbeite seit Fruejahr 2009 beim “Örebro Tejjour”, was wörtlich uebersetzt soviel wie Mädchennotdienst heisst. Wir sind ein ehrenamtlicher Verein von Frauen zwischen 20 und 30, die dazu beitragen wollen, junge Mädchen zu unterstuetzen, so schnulzig das jetzt auch klingen mag. Konkret sieht das so aus, das wir zum einen Montags abends mit Mädchen telefonieren oder chatten, die mit jemandem sprechen möchten, nicht als Psychologen sondern mehr als Mitmenschen, denn viele dieser Mädchen haben nicht viele Freunde mit denen sie ueber alles reden können oder ein intaktes Verhältnis zu ihren Eltern. Zum anderen besuchen einige von uns Schulen und sprechen dort mit Mädchen ueber Sexualität, Körperbilder, Feminismus, Selbstbewusstein und anderes, was meistens auch sehr positiv aufgenommen wird.

Letzte Woche wurden wir gefragt, ob wir nicht Lust hätten, an einer Verantstaltung im Rahmen des internationalen Tages gegen Gewalt gegen Frauen teilzunehmen, die von einer Organisation namens Unifem gehalten wurde. Selber reden wollte niemand, aber einige von uns kamen als Besucher, was im Klartext bedeutete, dass wir im Nieselregen Rednern auf dem Marktplatz in der Innenstadt zuhörten. Auffällig an dieser Verantstaltung war, das nahezu alle Redner Männer waren, ob das konkret so geplant war weiss ich nicht ganz genau.

Der erste Gedanke der mir durch den Kopf schoss -dafuer bin ich nicht dankbar- war im Stile von “Super, sonst sieht das wieder so aus als wuerden hier nu saure Feministinnen rummeckern.” Eigentlich ein ganz schön bekloppter Gedanke.

Bekloppt, dass man überhaupt das Gefühl hat, dass es sich nur “saure Feministinnen” sind, die sich über sowas beschweren, als ob der Rest der Bevölkerung damit einverstanden wäre. Oder aber, dass die Meinungen von “sauren Feministinnen” nicht so wichtig wären.

Auf der einen Seite finde ich es natürlich gut, wenn sich Männer gegen Gewalt gegen Frauen aussprechen, aber auf der anderen stört es mich auch, dass man das durch die Auswahl der Redner so extrem betonen muss. Dass man die Tatsache, dass auch die meisten Männer gegen Gewalt gegen Frauen sind, hervorheben muss, ist ja an sich auch absurd, aber da wären wir dann ja schon an dem Punkt wie absurd es eigentlich ist, dass UN-Tage, Verantstaltungen und Reden gegen Gewalt überhaupt notwendig sind.

Humoristischer Höhepunkt der Veranstaltung wurde erreicht, als eine der Organisatorinnen einen Redner als Herr Soundso vom “Netzwerk Gewalt gegen Frauen” vorstellte, welches, wie sich später herrausstellte, eigentlich GANZ anders hiess.

Es wurde nicht besonders viel neues gesagt, Politiker und Offizielle sprachen sich auf verschiedenste Weise gegen Gewalt aus (surprise!); ob darauf irgendwann auch Taten folgen und besonders wie diese aussehen wuerden, bleibt fraglich. So war z.B. unter den Rednern auch ein ranghoher Polizeibeamter, und natuerlich wuerde von deren Seite ja alles getan, um häusliche Gewalt zu verhindern, meinte er. Das war also am Mittwoch. Am darauffolgenden Montag hatte ich eine Schicht auf der Arbeit beim Mädchennotdienst und wurde ungefähr 5 Minuten nach Schichtbeginn damit konfrontiert, dass der nette Polizist da vielleicht ein bisschen uebertrieben hat. Details unterliegen natuerlich meiner Schweigepflicht und ich kann auch nicht mit Sicherheit sagen, ob nun die Polizei in den mir bekannten Fällen richtig hadelt oder nicht, die Signale jedoch, die sie an Opfer häuslicher Gewalt sendet, sind jedoch oft andere, als die an ein öffentliches Publikum auf Verantstaltungen.

So this is the perfect time to be frustrated and angry and bitter, so I’m going to complain about everything at once now, here we go:

- I’m getting angry at the weather

- I’m getting angry about the fact that my body and my subconscious things the day is almost over when it gets dark

- I’m getting angry that this happens at 4 pm.

- I’m getting angry at my bank for still not giving me full access to my own fucking money for a couple of months now

- I’m getting angry at my dog for not understanding what I want him to do

- I’m getting angry at myself for getting angry at my dog

- I’m getting angry about broken promises, even if it’s just about baking cookies

- I’m getting angry about people thinking that I moved to some kind of feminist wonderland, just because the differences in how much women and men are paid for the same work are a little less in Sweden than in Germany and there is better access to nurserys, as if that was the only point in which women are disadvantaged. (I’m just shortly throwing in disturbed body images, double standards in sexual behavior, sexist advertisement, domestic violence and rape here for a second)

- I’m getting angry about people assuming that one person only can worry about one thing at once. “How can you worry about animal rights when there still is war in this world? How can you worry about womens rights when there is climate change happening? How can you buy ecological food when there are people out there who don’t have food? How can you be an antifascist while there are women being raped every day?” I could go on with a lot of phrases like that which I, (maybe with small changes) already heard more than once…

I could go on for longer, but instead, I finally found a solution for a my problems!

Note: Actually, forcing yourself to smile for a minute can cheer you up because it makes your brain to produce more happy hormones, but that would be cheating…

I started riding 15 years ago.

It started as usual with a “well, I’m a little girl, what else am I supposed to do?” and never really stopped. I had a break after I moved to Sweden, also because I couldn’t find any place to ride (on somebody elses horse) that I really liked, but I always missed something. Even though I now own a wonderful little pony myself I wouldn’t consider myself a total horse person, since I’m interested in way too many things to be passionate about just one. Still, this is definetely the interest that I kept up the longest of all.

Since my views on animal rights started to change (or since I started having some…) a few years back, I also started to question equestrian sport a lot.

I usually call myself vegan and I wouldn’t buy any jacket or shoes etc made of leather for everyday use, but it’s impossible to keep that up when it comes to riding products, namely saddles and bridles, but also boots and so on. I also started to ask myself how I could criticise locking up a cow for milk production while I myself lock up a horse for my own “entertainment”. I can’t really seem to find a good compromise between my horses interest and my own, so I’m making a bad one.

The agreement i made with myself is simply to make sure my horse has the best life it could and that everything I do with him is actually something we do together and it happens on the horses conditions. I want to treat him in a way so he actually wants to spend time and work with me and enjoys it. That doesn’t mean that the horse is the one “deciding” in each situation, since not having a clear position of authority isn’t good for either me or him.

One sentence I grew up with (in riding) is “the error almost always sits in the saddle”, which means exactly that, the horse doesn’t do as told it probably is the riders fault. Since animals usually don’t do things to be mean to humans, we either sending the wrong signals or failed teaching the horse how to react on your commands.

(Getting hokey in 3,2,1…) I try to keep that in mind as I try to live a life in interaction with some of the most majestic creatures on this earth.
